Nominations have closed for the Kivalliq Inuit Association elections on Dec. 9 and there will be three candidates vying for president.

Incumbent David Ningeongan faces a challenge from Stanley Adjuk and Kono Tattuinee.

Donna Adams has been acclaimed as secretary treasurer.

Seeking the role of community director in Arviat are David Kuksuk and Tony Uluadluak.

In Baker Lake, Angela Cook, Thomas Elytook and James Taipanak are contending for community director.

Chesterfield Inlet’s community director candidates are Peter Sr. Kattegatsiak and Simeonie Sammurtok.

Hannah Angutialuk, Solomon Nakoolak and Paul Pudlat are running for community director in Coral Harbour.

Any voter who believes that a candidate is not eligible must notify returning officers of the reasons in writing by 4 p.m. on Nov. 7.
