A ceremony was held to officially mark the opening of Taloyoak's new $6.3-million air terminal building on Sept. 12.

At 3,466-square-foot, the two-storey building is larger than the previous air terminal, which was more than 35 years old.
"The new Taloyoak air terminal improves access to cargo, and domestic and medical travel, and improves passenger safety," said Transportation Minister David Akeeagok, who was present for the opening ceremony along with Premier Joe Savikataaq and Netsilik MLA Emiliano Qirngnuq.
The new building, which has been in use since November, features heated floors and is more accessible for those with disabilities.
The GN is considering using the building design for other air terminal buildings in some of Nunavut's small communities, according to a new release from the Department of Economic Development and Transportation.
