Voters in Hall Beach will have plenty of choice as six people are vying to occupy the mayor’s office.

A Hall Beach belection for mayor will take place on Feb. 10.

Jaypetee Audlakiak, Jason Kaernerk, Jopie Kaernerk, Ammie Ham Qaumayuk Kipsigak, Andrew Qaunaq and Solomon Ulluapak were the candidates who emerged when nominations closed on Friday.

The byelection came about when Jayko Simonie resigned in November for personal reasons after winning the mayoral election on Oct. 28.

Stacey Kadlutsiak is the community’s acting mayor in the interim.

The byelection is scheduled for Feb. 10 with an advanced poll to be held on Feb. 3.
