Resolute holds all-terrain vehicle safety training

Tragedy in Resolute has led to efforts to improve safety.

Fifteen residents completed an all-terrain vehicle safety workshop in mid-August. Everyone who finished the session received a complimentary helmet.

RCMP officers led the event, providing information on safe handling of the vehicles and answering participants' questions.

An accident involving a four-wheeler in the hamlet last year resulted in two deaths. A family member of one of the deceased approached the municipality to request the safety workshop, said Kimberly Young, the community's senior administrative officer. That individual also made a presentation during the workshop, sharing how painful it is to lose a relative to an accident and emphasizing the importance of wearing a helmet.

The hamlet tapped into its wellness funding to cover expenses for the session.
