The RCMP have charged a 29-year-old Rankin Inlet man with aggravated assault after another man was sent to Winnipeg by medevac for medical attention on Tuesday.
The police and Rankin Inlet Emergency Medical Services responded to a residence after learning of an individual in medical distress. The Mounties determined that the man was the victim of a serious assault. He was rushed to the local health centre for treatment, but he required more advanced care, so he was flown to Manitoba.
The victim is expected to make a full recovery, the RCMP stated.
A justice of the peace allowed the accused, who the RCMP did not name in a news release, to be released from custody with conditions.
His next scheduled court date is Aug. 10 in Rankin Inlet.
