Mila Kamingoak is putting family above politics.

"The reason I resigned is because my children come first. Since day one I’ve always said I am a mom first. At this time, I really need to focus on the wellbeing of my children," Kamingoak told Nunavut News in regards to her decision to resign as Kugluktuk's MLA as of April 3.
"The most challenging part (of territorial politics) was always leaving my family behind when I went to work in Iqaluit," she said. "Kugluktuk feels very far when I’m away for work. It was very hard to leave my children behind and it never got easier each time I left."
Kamingoak added that the most rewarding part of the job was "being a voice for my community and Nunavutmiut."
