The Aquatic Centre will offer limited access to pools at first. The fitness centre and studio are due to reopen during the second phase of Nunavut's Path reopening plans. There are no confirmed dates yet for these reopenings.

“However it is expected that the facility will be opened at limited and/or altered capacity in early July,” read a City of Iqaluit press release issued Thursday.

More information about the reopening plans for the Aquatic Centre will be announced June 26.

The baseball field is expected to reopen during the last week of June. A specific date will be announced before June 19. Other city parks, playgrounds, trails and some outdoor recreation spaces have already reopened.

Plans to reopen the Arctic Winter Games Arena complex are presently being discussed with chief public health officer Dr. Michael Patterson. The facility is, however, being prepared for the summer sports season.

In-person summer day camps have not yet been approved by Patterson. More information about summer day camps will be announced on June 22.

For Canada Day celebrations, a single-truck mobile concert with musical and dance artists will travel through the city on July 1 between 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

“We encourage residents to view the concert outside but close to home and to not gather in groups greater than 25 people,” read the press release.

The Makkuttukkuvik Youth Centre will remain closed for June and July. However, alternative outdoor programming for those aged 13-18 will be offered in July. The programming schedule will be announced on June 26.

Swim camp will not be offered this summer.

The Arnaitok Arena will remain closed for the summer season.
