RCMP in Iqaluit are advising residents that the V Division containment team will hold training exercises starting today and carrying on until July 31.

RCMP Cpl. Jamie Savikataaq said there will be a heavier police presence than usual and some of the officers may be wearing camouflage gear and other specialized equipment.

“Residents may see uniformed officers of the containment team in the public and should not be alarmed or concerned. The training is part of their annual certification and on-going training,” a Friday news release from the police force states.
