Ilagiiktunut funding supports Inuit artists and health workshops

The Joshua Haulli band will be having a concert in Pond Inlet. The Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) and the Embrace Life Council will be supporting the concert along with a handful of workshops and smaller events.

There will be guitar and music writing workshops as well as voice lessons. The organizations will also be having a SafeTalk for suicide prevention and a small health expo at the community hall.

According to QIA's Executive Director, Jeremiah Groves, "These events help to inspire our youth and ignite hope in our communities."

The events are being supported through the Ilagiiktunut Fund.

In Oct. 2019, QIA was given $17,110.10 for these events.

"QIA is proud to support young Inuit artists like Joshua Haulli through our Ilagiiktunut Fund. Music is a powerful tool for strengthening our language and cultural ties," said Groves.

All events are free of charge for Pond Inlet residents. The various events are scheduled to take place between Dec. 16 to Dec. 19.
