Frequent hand washing and cleaning of surfaces, doorknobs and children’s toys with soapy water, drinking plenty of fluids (other than pop and energy drinks) and avoiding unnecessary contact with sick individuals are recommended steps to reduce risk.

Symptoms of the illness include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, fever and diarrhea.

Those who are afflicted are urged to stay home, rest and consume plenty of fluids.

Anyone who develops severe symptoms, weakness and dehydration should see a medical professional.
