False lead in wanted man case led to RCMP closing road in Tundra Valley

Iqaluit RCMP closed a road in the Tundra Valley Wednesday afternoon because they believed, based on information provided to them, that they had tracked down a wanted man inside a local residence.
However, Iola Lucassie was not located inside the home, the Mounties stated. A warrant for his arrest is still in place.
Lucassie, 32, is facing a charge of assault causing bodily harm. He is described as 5’ 8”, 150 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes.
Members of the public are asked to not approach Lucassie but to call police immediately. The Mounties are asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of Lucassie to call RCMP at 867-979-1111 or Crime Stoppers at 867-222-8477.
