A 30-year-old Gjoa Haven man is facing a charge of possession of child pornography, according to the RCMP.
The Mounties stated that they “learned of information” relating to allegations of a person possessing child pornography while investigating an unrelated matter on June 11.
A search warrant allowed the police to enter a residence where they seized electronics during their investigation.
The man, who the RCMP did not name, appeared before a justice of the peace and is being kept in jail. His next scheduled court appearance is July 14 in Iqaluit.
