Hi Boys! Biking in the North in snow and icy roads is very popular with kids in Cambridge Bay. Here is 8-year-old Eric Scott Mingilgak Otokiak-Tikhak, left, 7-year-old Joshua Garret Koplomik Kaomayok, and 9-year-old David John Akana Kaomayok. In the background is the Arctic Ocean, slow to melt.

Welcome to Cambridge Bay, Nunavut. Snow is melting, but our weather has been full of snowing, freezing rain and mud.

Residents are still heading up to the lakes to go ice fishing for lake trout, arctic char and the odd tom cod. Soon the Arctic char will run and all our avid fishers will be so happy to be fishing for them.

We have had lots of wet snow, freezing snow and now mud creating potholes in town. Snow plows are busy clearing all the snow in public places and roads.
Lots of geese everywhere, so many have had the opportunity have a nice big pot of geese and delicious soup. Our Elders get happy when there is warmer weather plenty of harvest to bring home from the land.

We have two young girls to congratulate in our community. Big congratulations to Alara Taptuna and Alyssa Avalak for entering a poster contest for mental health.

Since they were the only two who entered the contest they both won gift cards. Way to go girls, we are so proud of you both. We hope you have a fun summer.

We would very much like to say a big thank you to Kelli Hanson and her helpers for providing lunches for the kids and the rest of community. It was such a special way to make sure our kids and community members are fed during the pandemic.

Everyone was so happy to pick up meals for family. We will miss the good food. Quana for all you have done Kelli and group. Hope you all have a great summer.

Quana to the Wellness Centre staff and Qillaq also for providing meals for the community during the pandemic.

Anyone who need food please contact our local food bank located at the Wellness Centre. Take good care and quana from all of us.

Message to Jason Poalona, Pikpik, Julian and Kulu, quana for a wonderful family visit, it was good to have family visits and meals, we hope you have a great summer!

God Be With You Son.
