A new faith group opens up in Pond Inlet

A new support group called Changing Lanes has opened up in Pond Inlet since Feb. 9.
This faith based support group aims to provide a “safe” environment where individuals can share and discuss their problems, according to Coreen Green, one of the workshop leaders.

The goal is to help community members live a healthier and happier life, she said. Both within a group setting and individually, members are encouraged to learn and discover what is holding them back in life, and how to deal with their issues.

“We just want to give them hope,” says Coreen Green referring those who need help in Pond Inlet. photo courtesy of Coreen Green.

The topics covered in the workshops run in correlation with the Alcoholics Anonymous 12 step program, but are intertwined with biblical principles.

The group meets every Sunday at 3 p.m. at the old daycare building. The one hour sessions are free of charge.

“A lot of the times people just need somebody to talk to more than anything,” said Green adding, “we just want to be a support to help and just be a friend.”
