Six new active Covid cases in Iqaluit brings total to 19

The Government of Nunavut reported six new active cases of Covid-19 in Iqaluit on Saturday, raising the number of active infections in the city to 19.

On Wednesday night, the capital reported its first active case, followed subsequently by the announcement of an additional 12 cases by Friday morning.

Lockdown measures are in effect in Iqaluit, and the Department of Health is urging people to stick to their household bubbles.

Thus far 14,035 first doses of the Moderna vaccine have been administered to Nunavummiut and another 10,434 second doses have been administered.

Anyone who has reason to believe they have been exposed to Covid-19 is advised to call the Covid-hotline at 1-888-975-8601, or notify their community health centre right away, and immediately isolate at home for 14 days. Please do not go to the health centre in person.
