The Government of Nunavut announced seven new cases of COVID-19 in Iqaluit and two new cases in Kinngait as of Friday.

There have also been eight recoveries reported, all in Iqaluit.

There are now 37 active cases of COVID-19 in Nunavut, 33 of which are in Iqaluit and four in Kinngait.

All individuals are isolating and doing well, according to Nunavut Premier Joe Savikataaq.

There is a direct link between the two new cases in Kinngait and the outbreak in Iqaluit.

A total of 11,940 Nunavummiut are now fully vaccinated, while 14,915 have received their first dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.

Anyone who has reason to believe they have been exposed to COVID-19 is advised to call the COVID-hotline at 1-888-975-8601 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. EST.
