Covid-19 Update: Public health emergency extended, schools reopening on schedule

As of August 20, there are still no confirmed or probable cases of Covid-19 in Nunavut.

To date 2,023 persons in Nunavut have been investigated for Covid-19. Presently, there are 252 persons being followed for the disease by the Department of Health. The public health emergency has been extended for another two weeks until Sept. 3.

All schools in Nunavut are scheduled to be open under Stage 1 as outlined in the 2020-21 Opening Plan for Nunavut Schools: Health and Safety.

In the Qikiqtani region all schools are expected to be in operation by Sept. 4. Schools in the Kitikmeot region will be open by Aug. 21, while in the Kivalliq region students were set to return today, Aug. 20.
