SOI is an award-winning organization taking high school and university students from around the world on the educational journey of a lifetime to explore the eastern Canadian Arctic and western Greenland.
With the support of SOI’s partners, a majority of the participants on the organization’s Arctic Expeditions are fully funded to participate.
More than 40 per cent of student-and-staff participants are from the circumpolar Arctic, with a majority from Canada’s North.
Since SOI began 18 years ago, more than 2,700 students and educators from 52 countries have participated in its transformational journeys.
They form an alumni family that is connected by their experiences, and provides ongoing support to fellow expeditioners as mentors, teachers and lifelong friends.
