Art world still mourns

by Darrell Greer- October 31, 2017

More than a month after his death on Sept.21, Canadian art lovers are still mourning the loss of Baker Lake carver and sculptor Barnabus Arnasungaaq. He was 93.

Arnasungaaq was the last of the first generation of master carvers who started their work when the federal government introduced the first carving and printmaking programs in the 1950s and early 1960s.

His work has been viewed around the globe and was constantly in demand right up until the time of his passing.
