AROUND THE NORTH: Hamlet Day in Pang

The community of Pangnirtung celebrated Hamlet Day April 3 with games, a feast and a dance.

“The hamlet is having games such as ice sculpture, iglu-building, craziest-sled contest, furthest-slide contest, uphill-run race,” said senior administrative officer Ron Ladd.

There were games for children and adults, including the ever-popular dice game later in the evening.

During the feast and dance in the evening, an elimination dance was held, with Simeonie Keenainuk, Chris Aningmiu, Joilee Veevee, George Qaqasaq and Ben Qaqasiq providing the music.

Regilee Mike was the big winner for the elimination dance and Elisapee Kisa won the ice auger draw.
